Hi! I’m

Candace Legault

Registered Provisional Psychologist, CCTS-I

I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist (P7888) with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (CCTS-I) practicing in Calgary, Alberta. I service clients using a holistic lens and mostly work with individuals grappling with anxiety, childhood and adult trauma, and betrayal trauma. Despite their strength and resilience, my clients are struggling to feel connected and fulfilled.

When I’m not at work, I spend my downtime at home with my partner and an entourage of cats, all while attempting to convince myself that binge-watching reality TV (Housewives, Bachelorette, The Challenge… you name it) counts as movement. I, too, go to therapy.

—just the casual kind, not the “I’m unraveling” kind (although we’ve all been there, am I right?)—

When I read, I indulge in psychological thrillers and gather more knowledge about my profession - why not add a dash of seriousness to my life? I love coffee, and am having a hard time accepting that it’s bad for my anxiety and that I don’t need it. I’m an animal lover, with a soft spot for cats, horses, and pandas.. because who doesn’t appreciate a creature that’s basically a walking marshmallow?

A mental health therapist and human with anxious tendencies helping others reconnect with their bodies and make meaning of their existence.

Training: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist-Individual (CCTS-I), Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS)

My inspirations span the spectrum from scientific to spiritual, embracing all beliefs and viewpoints that enter my office. We all have the capacity to heal, but sometimes we need some support.

It’s okay to ask for help.

My approach involves a blend of exploring the past and present while working together to curate a future you can look forward to. It’s not uncommon for my sessions to include a mix of laughter, tears and occasional dark humour.

Types of therapies that I draw from regularly in sessions include;

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Existentialism

  • Internal Family Systems

  • Strength Based

  • Humanistic Therapy

  • Polyvagal Theory

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

TDLR; My clients come to me with a history of traumatic experiences, feeling like they're stuck in a never-ending state of disconnectedness. They’re wrestling with anxiety, shame, and grief, and their motivation levels are somewhere between "meh" and "I know life could be better, but how do I even start?" They’re not fazed by my tattoos, the occasional expletive, or my inexplicable affinity for spirituality. What they are ready for is some serious, deep work. Our sessions will be a delightful mix of laughter, tears, and existential exploration, with you firmly in the driver’s seat—hopefully with a GPS this time.

If any of this resonates, I’d love to meet you.
